Lifestyle: Top 7 favourite films

Today I thought I'd do another top lifestyle post - but today on my favourite films. There are so many good films that didn't make it onto this list (I also have a list for film series coming soon!); but these are the 7 I think are the most memorable and I love the most.

7. Now You See Me
This film was a firm favourite from the moment I watched it, and also happens to be the newest on the list. It follows the story of a group of magicians who are brought together to perform in order to join this secret society of the best magicians. The film is exciting and thrilling throughout, and for a huge magic fan like me, it is incredible!

6. Singing in the Rain
This film is completely different to anything else on the list. Singing in the Rain is a musical telling the story of two silent movie stars who are staring in their first talking film - a musical but the lead actress can't sing, so another wannabe actress (and Gene Kelly's characters love interest) sings for her while she takes the credit - and the story tells of how this unfolds. I love the fun and classic music, combined with incredible dancing, the wonderful Gene Kelly and an excellent storyline that makes singing in the rain such a classic musical.

5. Castaway
Castaway is based on the real life story of a man who is stranded on a desert island after the FedEx plane he is working on crashes and he is the only survivor. It tells the story of what happens to him as he lives on this island with his volleyball Wilson for 4 years on the island before his rescue and return to civilization. Tom Hanks acting is incredible as he portrays the emotional roller-coaster of Chuck's story and the film is amazing considering most of it is only one actor and one setting.

4. Dirty Dancing
I love this film so much. Dirty Dancing tells the story of Baby as she learns to dance and has many new experiences while on a summer holiday. She meets Johnny and replaces his dance partner for the end of summer show; and the film tells the story of how she gets there. The music is amazing, the acting is amazing and the overall story is amazing - making this an incredible, 80s classic film.

3. Top Gun
Top Gun stars Tom Cruise and Kelly McGuiness as Charlie and Maverick as the film follow their unfurling love story as Maverick is training to be a fighter pilot. I love the romantic love story of the film as well as the brilliant cast and the incredible music. All of this combined brings together the magic feel that you get throughout the whole film.

2. Ghost
I LOVE THIS FILM!!!! It is a cult classic with a brilliant soundtrack and fantastic cast! Ghost tells the story of Banker Sam (Patrick Swayze) who is murdered and left as a ghost to roam the town he once lived in. When he finds out it was his best friend who killed him; he uses psychic Oda (Whoppi Goldberg) to try and protect his girlfriend Molly (Demi Moore) and bring justice to his killer. The love and loss of this film bring incredible emotion, yet it still has breaks of humour making it unique from anything else, and that it why it is one of my favourites.

1. Love Actually
I love Christmas - so it was no surprise a Christmas film is number 1 - and Love Actually is not only by far the best Christmas film of all time, but the single best film ever made! It tells 9 interconnecting stories around Christmas time including that of newly elected Prime Minister David (Hugh Grant); married man Harry (Alan Rickman) who is tempted by his new secretary and writer Jamie (Colin Firth) who falls in love with his housekeeper whilst on a writing retreat. It is a fantastic romantic comedy that has me crying with laughter every time we watch it and it is the only Christmas film I watch all year round. It is my whole family's favourite Christmas film and the over all fun, romantic and humorous feel to the whole thing is why it is easily my number 1!!!

Fashion: OOTD - Day 20 - Preppy Casual

With my outfit wanted something today I just simple and comfy; but that would keep me warm too as the weather is a lot colder today than it has been recently. Therefore, I went to my favourite cold weather combo and styled the outfit around a shirt and knit jumper combo.

I started with this navy and white plaid short sleeve shirt (Tu at Sainsbury's, £12) and paired it with this burgundy thick knit sweater (New Look, £18.99) to create a cute and preppy outfit that is still practical as it keeps me warm. I then made it a bit more casual by pairing it with these blue high waist skinny jeans (Primark, £10) and dark brown work boots (from Dr Martens years ago and are no longer available, but the similar Pilloy boots are, £110). To finish it off and tie in the boots with the more preppy style, I paired them with white frill trim socks (Primark, £3).

For my hair, I kept it simple with two braids and my fringe also braided and pinned out of my face. Also, I didn't wear any jewellery as I was doing a lot of rushing about and didn't want to lose it. Finally for makeup, I wore a simple tan eyeshadow (Urban Decay Buck from the Naked 1 palette) and black winged liner (Soap & Glory Super Cat Fat felt tip liner) with black mascara. I finished it off with a dark purple lipstick (Collection Blackberry Fool) to match the jumper and tie together the look.

Overall, this look proves for me that you can still dress in outfits that are practical for day to day life whilst looking cute. I love this look as it is comfy, simple, and a classic style I love.

Fashion: OOTD - Day 19 - Autumn Season.

Today I have finally succumbed to the fact summer is over and started wearing autumn colours today! I wanted a comfy and casual outfit for the few hours I'm in college, but I also wanted something that would keep me warm and bring together the Autumn colours.

I started with this 3/4 sleeve burgundy paisley long top (car-boot sale, £3) and blue denim leggings (Sports Direct, £6). I then added my denim jacket (Matalan 4 years ago) to keep warm walking to college. Finally, I wore my tan suede desert boots (Primark, £10).

For jewellery I just wore my fatima hand necklace (Marrakesh Souks, £6) and for my hair, I wore my fringe twisted away from my face and pinned. Finally, for makeup, I wore a light golden tan eyeshadow (mixture of colours from this Claire's eyeshadow palette), black winged liner (soap & glory super cat fat eyeliner pen) and black mascara (scandal eyes rockin curves mascara). Finally on my lips, I wore a purple-red lipstick (MUA wild berry).

This outfit is my way of showing off how you can use summer clothing items (like this denim jacket) all year round by just matching them with some more season-appropriate items.
