The Sutton Trust.
For those of you who don't know, the Sutton Trust is an organisation which helps teenagers in college with building up their CVs and UCAS forms, gives advice on personal statements and helps them get into university via programmes such as Pathways to Law/Medicine (which involves students going to termly sessions at their nearest Uni that runs the programme and trying out different lectures and workshops around the subject), summer schools, Uni taster events and more.
I not only am fortunate enough to have been on the Pathways to Law programme and have attended the 4 Law convention in Warwick for it over the summer; but I also got to attend the Bristol Summer School which is mainly why I am grateful for the Sutton Trust.
I went to the Bristol Summer School nervous that I wouldn't be liked and would spend the whole time on my own and would struggle with all the classes and lectures. Yet, I was so wrong. I had the best week of my life. I had a great time on the course and in all the lectures; had great fun with all the social and extra-curricular activities - but most of all was given the opportunity to meet the most incredible group of friends I good have asked for. I got to spend time getting to now a fantastic group of people over breakfasts, games of Cards Against Humanity, Law lectures, parties, quizzes, gala dinners, photography workshops, bus journeys and of course - KARAOKE!!! Yet most importantly, I got to meet the squad - Amber, Abbie, Joe, Will, Hugo, Kaisha, Emily, Emily, Mia, Lizzy, Tamzin and EJ. The best group of people in the world and now (despite the fact we live all over the country) 12 people I would class as my best friends. The sutton trust not only helped me with choosing a course for uni and now preparing my application; but it helped me to gain confidence (when I sang in front of a group of strangers on my own for the first time in years), encouraged me to talk to new people, forced me out of my comfort zone, helped me make amazing friends and gave me the best summer memories ever - hence why I am so grateful.
I would also like to firstly leave a link if you click HERE for the Sutton Trust in case you want to check it out for yourself, and also give a special mention to Penny who runs the Bristol Summer School. She worked so hard planning the event, getting everyone around on time, helping those who needed it and organising getting everyone home when the train staff went on strike! She was superwoman over the whole week and without her, the event would have either fell apart or (more likely) never happened. If it wasn't for her I would never have had the best summer and be the person I am now. She probably won't ever read this but I want her to know that I am so thankful for all she has done and all the Sutton Trust has done for me this summer.

Relaxing with family.
This summer is the last before my older sister goes to uni, so it was really nice to get to spend time together whether it be at home playing board games and card against humanity or watching films, going on days out to shopping or spending a couple of days away in Brighton and Eastbourne.
It was really nice for us all to just relax away from school or work and enjoy spending time together as a family before my sister goes to uni and won't be home till December - we made the most of it while we could and that is why I am grateful.
3.
Results Day.
I recently received my AS level results back and I will admit that on the day I received them I was gutted. I got 3 Bs and a C but was hoping for 3 As and a B - hence I was so disappointed. However, I am grateful because I got the grades to carry on to next year and my college have been so helpful in advising me what is best to do going into my A2 year - and reasurring me that I did OK. Now I've seen the grade boundaries and realised that despite the high increase in them from last year, I was still really close to my 3 As and a B; combined with how brilliant my college have been, I am really grateful for results day overall!!!
There are many things that just missed out on being in the top 3 (such as rehearsing for my last carnival concerts and going to London with friends) but I am still so grateful for - I had such a fantastic summer it was so hard to choose!!! If you have 3 things you are grateful for this year then please leave a comment and let me know as I would love to hear about it!!!
