Fashion: Formal outfits

Today I thought I'd do a post about some formal outfits a variety of occasions. I have worn all bar one of these outfits out myself and love all of them! So here a 5 outfits for 5 formal occasions!

Outfit 1 - Family dinner.

This outfit I wore to a meal out with my family at the beginning of the year. I wore the blue dress from new look (£10 in the sale) and has this really unique criss cross cutout detail on the neck. I paired it with this zebra blazer (local store, £14) to add a smart casual touch to the outfit.

I didn't want to wear a necklace with this outfit as the neck has quite a lot of detail; so to add a glitzy touch - I paired it with this silver gem cherry pin (gift). Finally; I wore these white jelly shoes (£10, eBay) with it to tie in the white from the blazer, without being too overly formal as it is for a simple family dinner. On my lips, I chose to wear a classic red lip (Rimmel Kate comic relief lipstick in Red Nose Day Red) to finish the look off.

Outfit 2 - Formal college event.

This outfit I wore to a public speaking competition at college a  few months ago. It is a very smart outfit that could be suitable for any school event, presentation or interview also. I chose this dark green short sleeve skater dress with embossed details from primark (£8) as I really liked the style and colour - but it is not too bright or garish. I paired it with a simple black blazer (£12, Primark) to add some more formality to the look; and a pair of simple black lace flats (£4, Primark).

For accessories, I kept it simple with this black leather fatima hand necklace (£6, Marrakesh Souks) as it was simple enough to look elegant but not overpower the look. On my lips I wore a simple but natural nude shade (collection lib butter in vintage rose).

Outfit 3 - Garden Party.

I wore this outfit for the gala ball and BBQ at a recent residential event I went to. I thought the outfit was perfect to balance from the more casual atmosphere at the BBQ and the formal party atmosphere at the gala. I wore this light purple shift dress from Boohoo (£15) which is smart and stylish - yet still not too casual. I paired it with my white jelly shoes (local store, £14) which are good for dancing in, yet still suitable for wearing on the grass outside during the BBQ.

I accessorised it with floral crown (£5.99, Claire's) and a simple fake shark tooth necklace I bought on holiday in Lanzarote (unsure - bought it 6 or 7 years ago). I used these accessories to make the outfit look put together enough for a formal event, yet still relaxed enough for a garden party. I wore a classic Barbie pink lipstick (17 stay pout lipstick in audition) to tie in the pink in the flower head crown with the outfit.

Outfit 4 - Night Club.

I wore this next outfit to a night club for one of the parties organise by my college. The outfit is classy yet not too showy as the black dress (H&M, £35) is a midi dress to balance out the strap shoulders. I paired it with these silver high heels from New look (£18) to add some more glamour to the outfit.

I wore this black and silver heart necklace (gifted) to tie together the shoes and dress colours to make the outfit look fully put together. On my lips I wore a dark purple lipstick to finish off the glam yet club fitting outfit (Collection lasting colour lipstick in blackberry fool).

Outfit 5 - dinner with friends.

I have not wore this outfit yet, but plan to wear it out for dinner for a friends birthday next month. I think the white jeans (H&M, £10) are a statement piece for the whole outfit and to make them stand out I wore a simple black long sleeve crop top (Primark, £4) and black wedge platform heels (eBay, £16) to make them stand out. I also wore my black longline blazer coat (gifted) to keep me warm as it is colder weather where I live in October, but also finish off the monochrome look.

For accessories, I kept it simple with this gold chunky chain necklace (River Island, £10) to match the gold details on the jeans buttons and shoes; as wells as wearing a fun bright pink lipstick (Rimmel apocalips in apocaliptic) to balance the two tone outfit.

I hope you enjoyed this post and liked the outfits! Let me know in the comments what your favourite formal event to got to is and what you like to (or would) wear to it!
