Lifestyle: Strictly Come Dancing - Week 1

Image result for scd cast 2015

As a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing (as you can see on my favourite TV shows post); I decided something fun to do on my blog would be to review each week of strictly come dancing, talk about my favourite dances and what scores I would have given!

Image result for kevin and kellie

Kevin and Kellie
I will admit that I wasn't sure about how good Kellie would be (having not noticed her much in the launch show routine) - yet her Tango surprised me! For week 1, she did really well especially since she had such a difficult dance! They gave the Tango a modern twist and she had all the basic skills of the dance sorted; as well as putting on a fantastic performance! Also, hats off to Kevin who choreographed a brilliant routine to really show of Kellie's skills.

Score: 27/40
Place on Leaderboard: 3rd
My personal score: 7

Image result for anthony and oti

Anthony and Oti
Anthony did really well to overcome his injury in a dance that was especially difficult for him with his shoulder injury. Oti did a brilliant job of choreographing around his injury to the point the first time I watched the routine; I hardly noticed he was rarely using one arm! His legs were a little bit stiff and his feet needed pointing - but overall he kept up with the high energy and fun of the song in his dancing and performed fantastically!

Score: 21/40
Place on Leaderboard: 8th
My personal score: 6

Image result for helen and aljaz

Helen and Aljaz
Helen's waltz was fantastic. Considering it was only week 1 - she had incredible posture and footwork; alongside her smooth rhythm and beautiful performance. Her and Aljaz demonstrated excellent chemistry and put on a beautiful
performance that I was in awe of from beginning to end - I absolutley loved it!

Score: 29/40
Place on Leaderboard: 2nd
My personal score: 8

Image result for daniel and kristina

Daniel and Kristina
I was pleasantly surprised by Daniel. After the launch show, I wasn't expecting much to be honest; but he put on a lovely performance. His technique wasn't perfect; but he had perfect posture and brilliant rhythm. Kristina created a beautiful routine that was simple, but effective in demonstrating Daniel's skills. It will be intersetng to see how he does in the Latin next week!

Score: 21/40
Place on Leaderboard: 8th
My personal score: 6

Image result for gleb and anita

Gleb and Anita
Anita was another person who shocked me in a good way during the launch show. I wasn't sure what to expect and actually her Cha cha cha was really good! She performed with confidence, had mastered the basic skills and was in my opinion really enjoying herself. Overall I feel she has a really good, solid start and could go far in the competition.
Score: 27/40
Place on Leaderboard: 3rd
My personal score: 7

Image result for carol and pasha

Carol and Pasha
Carol really seemed to enjoy the performance and Pasha's entrance was brilliant - but I don't think her dancing is going to take her very far unfortunately. However, despite her dance performance not being great - she bought the spirit of strictly alive. She tried so hard and enjoyed herself; and I think that will keep her in a while longer.

Score: 16/40
Place on Leaderboard: 3rd
My personal score: 5

Image result for jay and aliona

Jay and Aliona
Now firstly - Jay was petrified. You could tell he was the most nervous out of all of the celebrities; yet his dancing was still really good. Aliona was very clever in her choreography giving him the singing bit at the start to make him feel more comfortable; and once the nerves go his dancing is going to go from good to fantastic! Now that he has got week one out of the way, and has some positive comments and good scores under his belt, I can't wait to see what he does next.
Score: 27/40
Place on Leaderboard: 3rd
My personal score: 7

Image result for jeremy vine and karen

Jeremy and Karen
Now Jeremy is another who was encompassing the spirit of strictly with his confidence; performance and sparkly purple shirt! However, his dancing was more dad dancing than Latin sensation. Yet, Karen was very clever in
choreography to tailor it to show of what he could do, rather than what he couldn't - and overall he gave a good, confident performance.

Score: 19/40
Place on Leaderboard: 13th
My personal score: 4

Image result for ainsley and natalie

Ainsley and Natalie
Now, if they gave scores for facial expressions Ainsley Harriott would have scored 10s across the board. He put in a fantastic performance with his acting skills, enabling him to cover for the fact his dancing wasn't great. However, he had the hang of some of the basic skills - and showed potential to get a lot better; so I hope he stays in for a few weeks yet to show us what he can do.

Score: 20/40
Place on Leaderboard: 11th
My personal score: 5

Image result for iwan and ola

Iwan and Ola
I really like first up the way Ola choreographed this routine so well to not only stay true to the Tango; but still fit Iwan's personality and allow him to show off who he is (and I feel somtimes the talents of the Pros on Strictly go unappreciated). This covered some of the fact that his dancing wasn't the best; however in spite of this - he still demonstrated a lot of potential and he did really well with a difficult dance like the Tango in week 1.

Score: 17/40
Place on Leaderboard: 14th
My personal score: 5

Image result for peter and janette

Peter and Janette.
WOW is all I can say! I was expecting Peter to be good, but he bought his A game last night - and although it wasn't flawless (it's only week 1!) it was FAB - U - LOUS! Janette didn't make it easy for him with difficult choreography and he still took the challenge and aced it on the dance floor! He was very deserving of his fantastic score and I can not wait to see what he does next!

Score: 30/40
Place on Leaderboard: 1st
My personal score: 8

Image result for katie and anton

Katie and Anton
Finally we get to see Anton properly dance! Katie is enabling Anton to show off his choreography skills and demonstrate his talent that we haven't been able to see in the main competition much over the last 10 years. Katie also has a natural rhythm and good dance ability which she showed in her jive. Although there were a few technical faults that need correcting, she did fantastically well for such a hard dance in week 1.

Score: 20/40
Place on Leaderboard: 11th
My personal score: 7

Image result for jamelia and tristan

Jamelia and Tristan
Now with Jamelia I'm not sure what to think. I feel like the overall dancing was good - there were some faults but the basic skills were all performed well. However; I personally did not feel like she was living the performance. Now this could have been down to nerves, but I feel like her performance let down the number a bit as a whole. However, if she begins to perform I think she could be a lot better.

Score: 21/40
Place on Leaderboard: 8th
My personal score: 6

Kirsty and Brendan
Kirsty is another person I think was nervous. Not only this but I don't think that she is as comfortable in the ballroom; meaning it sort of ended up as Brendan pulling her around in order for her to keep up. Yet, in her face I felt the emotion and her performance was brilliant. I'm interested to see if she is any different in her Latin routine next week.

Score: 26/40
Place on Leaderboard: 7th
My personal score: 6

Image result for georgia and giovanni

Georgia and Giovanni
Now these two were just adorable. They bought all the cuteness and fun to their bubbly routine; and Georgia's dancing was really good as well. Giovanni choreographed to Georgia's personality perfectly - allowing her to focus on the dance and let the performance to come naturally; which it did! I think this duo are definitely ones to watch!

Score: 27/40
Place on Leaderboard: 3rd
My personal score: 8

I hope you enjoyed my little summary of this weeks Strictly and I apologise for the lacking of the 2 blog posts I promised this weekend - but my house WiFi  was down during most of the little time I had to write and upload; but it is back to normal now so I will be back to my usual schedule tomorrow! Let me know in the comments who you think is going to win; and I'm going to put it out there and at the moment say either Peter and Janette or Giovanni and Georgia.
