Fashion: OOTD - Day 1 - First day of college

Today is my first day of lessons back at college, so I wanted an outfit that not only looked good so I could start the year with a statement; but also was comfortable and most importantly - I felt confident and happy in.

I decided to go for this edgy look with my favourite skirt from Primark. This is one of the very small number of midi skirts I have found that doesn't overwhelm my figure (as I am average height but with short legs) yet is still stylish, comfy and affordable (at £10). I paired it with a basic white tee (£2.50 in the men's section of Primark!) as the print and cut of the skirt I feel is a statement enough. To add a bit more edge without overpowering the look I paired it with my favourite denim jacket (from Matalan about 4 years ago) and a pair of black combat boots from eBay.

In regards to hair, makeup and accessories - as the outfit was such a big statement I kept jewellery simple with just my silver Fatima hand leather necklace I bought from a silver stall in the souks of Marrakech for 90 dirham (£6) in February and a pair of stud earrings. For my makeup I went for a bright, bronzed complexion (Rimmel's Wake me up foundation and Rimmel's natural bronzer in 022 sun bronze) simple eyes with a shimmer off white shadow (Urban Decay's Virgin from the Naked 1 palette), black winged eyeliner and statement dark lip (MUA's lip switch in Persian plum). I curled my hair overnight and then added a bit of volume in the top and a couple of boho braids to complete the simple half up half down style and tie together the whole look.

I think the most important thing about you first day back at school or college is to feel confident in the way you look and dress not for others but for yourself. If you feel confident and happy in the way you look and what you wear - then it doesn't matter what others think.
